Job Description

The System Design Specialist plays a crucial role in advancing the adoption of solar energy systems by ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of permit applications in the SolarAPP+ program. This position focuses on providing expert guidance and support to contractors, ensuring that PV electrical projects adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety. By leveraging in-depth knowledge of residential electrical systems and PV/ESS circuits, the Customer Support Technical Coordinator will analyze and troubleshoot errors in PV electrical projects, fostering improved performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

1) Comprehensive Error Analysis and Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues within residential PV systems, emphasizing the importance of clear, actionable guidance for contractors.

  • Technical Support and Documentation: Serve as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries, ensuring detailed documentation of issues and solutions.

  • Training and Education: Develop materials and sessions to educate contractors and team members on best practices and new technologies within the solar PV and ESS industry.

  • SolarAPP+ Updates Monitoring: Keep up-to-date with NEC code, Fire Code, SolarAPP+ developments, and other regulatory changes.

  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend enhancements for SolarAPP+ software based on user feedback, and suggest improvements to standard operating procedures to the GreenLancer leadership team.


2) Customer Support and Program Management:

  • PV/ESS System Compliance and Oversight: Ensure all installations and troubleshooting advice adhere to national and local codes, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate effective communication across technical and engineering teams, updating on the latest technologies and installation standards

  • Market Research and Analysis: Stay informed of market trends and technological advancements in solar, providing insights that inform company strategy and product development.

  • SolarAPP+ Monthly Reports: Support the production of high quality monthly deliverables to report on SolarAPP+ progress. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and technical teams to stay updated on the latest solar technology and installation standards. Ensure clear communication across departments to facilitate the successful implementation of solar projects.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all advice and solutions comply with national and local electrical codes and standards for solar PV installations. Promote a culture of safety and compliance among contractors and within the team.

Job Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program. Certification in PV installation or a professional engineering license (PE) in electrical engineering is a plus.

  • Residential Electrical Expertise: Demonstrated experience with residential electrical systems, including service panels, general-purpose outlets, and PV/ESS DC/AC circuits.

  • PV/ESS Circuit Proficiency: Solid understanding of photovoltaic and energy storage systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and design circuits effectively.

  • Experience: Prior experience in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues within residential PV systems is crucial.
