9-30-2014 Triumphant GreenLancer Returns to Solar Power International
Last October, the attention of the solar world was focused on Detroit based start up, GreenLancer.com. Capturing the judge’s attention with its visionary business model, GreenLancer won first place in Solar Power International’s ‘Start Up Alley’ Competition. The visionary business model addresses the industry’s need or effective ‘soft cost’ solutions in order to propel solar project development. By leveraging cloud-based businesses systems and a freelance workforce (‘GreenLancers’), the company is offering high value professional services through a network of qualified designers and support teams.
A year later, GreenLancer will be returning the 2014 SPI conference with much excitement and a redefined focus. Since SPI ’13, the GreenLancer client base has expanded from small mom and pop installers to include global enterprise clients. These enterprise clients require high volumes of design work with a fast turn-around. With the high volume clients, GL had the opportunity to prove the business model and scale up production. “By focusing on the recruiting and training of our workforce, we are looking to accelerate growth of the residential market. We’re also looking forward to demonstrating to the solar community how far we’ve come,” said Daniel Edelson, Business Development Manager at Greenlancer.
One of the judges, Mr. Jigar Shah, founder of SunEdison and author of Creating Climate Wealth said, “GreenLancer stood out among the competition [at SPI Startup Alley] by demonstrating a visionary and innovative business model.”
